Summer Dinner. Then Fireworks!

The Fourth of July is this Saturday, which feels about right.

We'll be serving dinner from our regular à la carte menu, along with a few holiday specials built around the occasion and whatever looked too good to pass up from the farms this week.

One thing people sometimes forget: Clarklewis is surprisingly close to the downtown fireworks display. Have dinner, linger over dessert or one last glass of wine, then step outside and look toward the Marquam Bridge. That's pretty much it. No staking out a patch of grass at 3 in the afternoon. No coolers. No folding chairs (unless you bring one to CL with you).

And parking? Also easy. After 6:00 PM there is plenty of spaces behind the building, on Taylor, and along Water Avenue out front.

It hasn't exactly been the easiest year to feel uncomplicated about America. But summer in Oregon still has a way of reminding us what's good: long evenings, local berries, friends around a table, and a reason to look up at the sky for a few minutes.

We'll take care of dinner. Portland can handle the fireworks.

See you on the Fourth.

Reservations are recommended.
